I don’t know how people who post to a blog every day do it. I find it a challenge to do every few days. I will get back to my Bitcoin Baby Steps, but there is something else I want to share with you.
Last weekend, we went down state for two reasons. One was to help my wife’s sister with the Attendant’s Dinner for one of her sons. He is getting married to a wonderful young woman. Not all of the members of their wedding party knew each other, so this was a chance for them to meet. It was a beautiful day, full of love and family.
The other reason we went on this trip was to go through my mother’s stuff. Mom died last December. This was the first chance my brothers and I had to get together to do this. It was hard, nostalgic, and helpful, all at the same time. To be honest, most of the things were not things that we wanted to keep, but there were a few treasures.
First is a painting my sister did when she was in high school. Note: my sister died in 2006. She was struck by a car.
Kim was very talented. She expressed herself in many creative ways. She did painting, textiles, pottery, and so much more.
Another treasure is a very large pastel drawing that my mother did when she was a teenager. This would have been done somewhere around 1940.
This hung on the wall of my grandmother’s house for many years. That house ended up being my mother’s house. Now, the house belongs to my brother. At least it stayed in the family.
Mom also was very creative. She did pottery, yarn spinning and weaving, and she even made baskets. Here is one of her baskets.
Our cat, Han, appears to approve of the basket. I think that would have made mom very happy.
There is another reason I’m posting this today. Mom would have been 96 today. She lived a long, good life, and I miss her very much.
Life does go on. Do me a favor. Tell the people in your life that you love them. You never know when you will no longer be able to do that.
