I just found out that a friend of mine died last April. I can not say that he was a close friend. Obviously, I would have known sooner if he had been. He was a good man. Many times over the years, he offered me great advice about running our condo association. He was a wealth of knowledge. Now, much of that knowledge is lost forever. He will be missed.
His death got me thinking about life. In the grand scale of things, we live on this planet for such a short time. What impact have we made while we are here?
Like many of you probably did, my wife and I watched a lot of footage over the past few days from the September 11 attacks. Such a horrible event in our history. We watched the 60-Minutes episode about it. Devastating to watch, yet inspiring to see the heroic efforts of those first responders, and passengers on Flight 93. Those people were true heroes. They made a difference. If they had not made the sacrifices that they did, many more would have died that day.
I like to think that I’ve done some good in my life, but a certainly could do more. I am going to work on that. I do my best to be a good husband, father, friend, mentor, leader, etc.
Life is short. My challenge to you is make the best of the time you have here.
So sad about your friend. We always hear comments about life being a precious gift and to live in the "present ". I too try to do better everyday. I would say I have been truly blessed with the people in my life who have been inspirational including you and Cindee 🤗
Sorry to hear about your loss, Rick. Thanks for sharing this story with us and for this awesome reminder to be intentional with the precious time we all have here. Definitely a great reflection to begin the week with!
